At Muvar, we understand that moving homes or comparing energy prices could be very tedious and so, we’re all about creating home owners’ convenience and happiness by scanning the energy market on your behalf for better deals so as to reduce your bills. For members of our Bill Savers Club, your privacy is very important to us; therefore, we want you to be confident that the basic information we collect from you to notify you of bill saving tip[s and new market deals is safe and secured. In this Privacy Policy, we’ll explain how we use your information to give you a better, more personalized user experience.

We’ve tried to limit the amount of information we collect from you to the very basic that is required for expected personalized service. With that said, this Privacy Policy tells you how and why we collect such information, your rights and choices when it comes to these details, as well as the steps we take to keep it secured and confidential.

1. What this Privacy Policy covers

This is the Privacy Policy for the Muvar website, our related app, the tools on our website and our social media content (the “Site”).

Muvar (referred to in this policy as “we“, “us” or “our“) is the “controller” under relevant Canadian data protection laws. Where we are processing the personal information you provide us in relation to our content and/or Site, we are the controller of such information.

The main purposes why we collect and process your personal information are: to show you relevant content and to improve your experience on the Site; provide the services you sign up for, such as our rates notification service.

Our Site contains external links to other websites that aren’t subject to this Privacy Policy. Please do read our Terms for further information on external links, as well as the terms and conditions and privacy policy of any website you give your personal information to, as you’ll be bound by them. We are not liable for anything that happens if you use them.

2. How we treat the Information we collect

The information we collect will depend on how you’re using our Site and should usually be clear to you at the time we collect it, e.g., for rate notification service, we’ll ask for your email address. 2.2. Our Rates Notification service

When you register to receive our rates notification emails, we’ll use your email address to send you such notifications. We don’t anticipate frequent rates changes and so, may be about twice a month or even less. However, on certain occasions, we may send you more notifications when we have something really important to share with you – this doesn’t happen very often.

2.3. Price Comparison Service

Our Price Comparison service is performed by using the details you provided us on the form you filled on our website and based on these data provided, our tools perform regular background comparisons and we may submit your information to some of our vendor partners to offer you deals based on your preference which you submitted on Our Site. As well as enabling you to do whole-of-market comparisons when you visit Our Site, these background comparisons also allow us to regularly let you know when you could be on a better tariff whenever there’s a new deal in the market.

We will only hold these personal information for so long as is reasonable in relation to providing you with energy rates notification services

We’ll also contact you:

   i. To welcome you to Our Rates Notification Service and may provide an initial list of rates that are likely to save you money;

 ii. To alert you to information and offers regarding the possibility to reducing your energy bills;

  iii. To alert you to changes to our services (eg, changes to our Terms); and

  iv. To alert you to major news about your energy retailer, such as price rises or lower rates which may reduce your rates further. 

2.4. Internal reporting, insight and analysis

We may use your personal information to generate aggregated, anonymized data for the purposes of internal reporting, insight and analysis, enabling us to improve and personalise our Site, the products/ services we offer and search results for our Site. As part of this, we also use web analytics tools like Google Analytics. Where necessary, this exercise may be carried out on our behalf by a third party agency.

We may also use your personal information to personalize aspects of our Site, enable your details to be moved across our platform to speed up form filling and for market research. As part of this, we may match your personal information against information that has been collected by someone else. We are always working to make a better Site for you and using your personal information in this way helps us to do so. We don’t knowingly collect or store any personal information about children under the age of 16. If you are aged under 16, please get your parent or guardian’s permission before you provide any personal information to us.

5.1. Our vendor partners – For the purposes described in sections 2 and 3 above, and for the purposes of providing certain services and enabling your interaction with the Site.

9. How long do we keep your personal information?

Where you’ve applied for or purchased products or services via the Site we’ll need to keep your personal information for longer for operational purposes – up to seven (7) years following the date on which it is provided to us.
